The Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram is Maine's leading newspaper, read by hundreds of thousands of people throughout the state every week. Monday through Saturday, the Portland Press Herald reaches the most populous part of Maine with a primary circulation area that stretches from York County to Knox County, while our Sunday edition, the Maine Sunday Telegram, is distributed statewide.
Publishing since 1862, we have earned a reputation in Maine and around the country for top-quality journalism, exceptional printing and design, and a commitment to the communities we serve. For the 11th time in 12 years, the Maine Sunday Telegram has been named best Sunday newspaper in New England in the 70,001-200,000 circulation category. The Portland Press Herald was named the region's best daily newspaper in the 50,000 - 150,000 category by the New England Newspaper Association for the 8th time in 11 years. The newspaper has also won Excellence Awards in circulation and advertising.
Our News staff consists of more than 100 reporters, photographers and editors, operating from our main offices at 390 Congress Street in Portland, regional bureaus in Biddeford, Sanford, Brunswick and Augusta, and a bureau in Washington, D.C. In addition to News, our operations include more than 400 other employees in advertising, circulation, production, finance, marketing, information technology, human resources and labor relations.
The newspaper is printed every night of the year at our state-of-the-art printing and distribution facility in South Portland. The newspaper uses environmentally
friendly water-based inks,and all of our newsprint waste is recycled.
Along with our daily news, editorial, sports and classified sections, we offer a different focus each day, including: Monday Magazine; expanded business coverage on Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday; Food & Health on Wednesdays; arts and entertainment coverage in GO on Thursday and Audience
on Sunday; Outdoors on Sunday and Real Estate on Friday and Wheels on Sunday. Throughout the year we offer a variety of special sections such as our Vacationland and Holiday Shopping guides, and we offer special weekly zoned sections for residents of York County and the Sebago Lakes region.
The newspaper supports a variety of cultural, performing arts, social service and educational programs including an extensive Newspaper in Education program, Press Herald in the Classroom, and our annual Bruce Roberts Toy Fund, which provides toys to more than 8,000 children during the holidays.
