Medical Care Development
Medical Care Development, Inc., has carried out projects since 1966 to improve Maine’s health systems. These have included the development of regional programs for improving care for heart disease and cancer, development of Maine’s emergency care system, development of many of Maine’s federally qualified health centers, development of Maine’s first family practice residency, and development of the nation’s first Ambulatory Diabetes Education and Follow-up program to be reimbursed by Medicare and Medicaid. MCD also carries out health care improvement programs in developing countries and operates a large number of programs for elderly and disabled residents in Maine, striving to find ways to improve health status and quality of life for these vulnerable people. Office locations include Skowhegan, Norway, Auburn, Farmington, Bangor, Bucksport, Berwick, Windham, Biddeford, Augusta, Gardiner, and Boothbay.
