The Dingley Press is a catalog printer that was founded 70+ years ago in the Lewiston-Auburn Area. It was later moved to Portland, and in the 1930’s to Freeport when a long-term relationship developed with LL Bean. The following is a timeline of the history of The Dingley Press, Inc.



• From 1940 until 1972, The Dingley Press was the sole producer of LL Bean catalogs.

• 1972 ~ The change to web offset printing and an increase from 18 employees to 70.

• Contract between LL Bean and The Dingley Press ended in 1981.

• 1989 ~ The Dingley Press moved to its current location in Lisbon, Maine.

• In 2004, The Dingley Press reaches 500 employees.

• May of 2004, The Dingley Press becomes part of The Sheridan Group.

The Dingley Press, Inc has grown into one of Maine’s largest manufacturing companies with 500 employees in a 24/7 operation; producing and distributing over 600 million catalogs per year. As of 2005, The Dingley Press, Inc has in operation 6 Web Offset Presses, 14 Heidleburg Bindery Stitchers and 1 Perfect Binder. With the advancements in technology and our value for experienced employees, we are always willing to talk with Bindery & Web Press Operators, Prepress Technicians, and experienced production supervisors.
