About
Augusta Schools

“Having high expectations for all Augusta children”

Our Mission

“The mission of the Augusta schools is to provide all students with challenging, high quality educational programs in academic skills, life skills, career preparation, and citizenship. It is the intent of the Augusta School Department to increase aspiration levels of all youth, and to offer educational experiences in environments conducive to learning.”

Our Schools

The Augusta Schools provide a high quality education for 2,700 students in grades PreK – 12 in seven schools : four (4) elementary, one (1) middle , a comprehensive high school, and a regional technical school. Our schools serve a diverse population through a wide range of programs. Students are challenged by an accelerated math program, foreign language, honors and advanced placement courses, a strong gifted and talented program, tech-prep courses, and outstanding technical school program. Over 550 special needs students are served within the district and limited English proficiency students are supported at all levels. Model programs are in place K-12 for the at-risk population.

In November 1998, the citizens voted to approve the process to build a new high school at the technical center site by a 3 to 1 margin.
