About
Franklin Memorial Hospital
Welcome to Franklin Community Health Network (FCHN) online. FCHN is a locally controlled, nonprofit, integrated network of rural health-care providers, created by Franklin Memorial Hospital in 1991. The network now includes five affiliates:
Evergreen Behavioral Services, offering mental health resources and an alternative school;
Franklin Memorial Hospital, a 70 bed acute-care facility whose mission is to provide high-quality, cost-effective, patient-centered health care to west central Maine. Franklin Memorial Hospital today offers highest-quality health care and state-of-the-art technological support. At the same time, FMH is one of the lowest cost hospitals in Maine as the result of astute quality assurance and cost containment measures. Care here, as elsewhere in the country, has shifted rapidly from a primarily inpatient medical model to one that emphasizes education, prevention, and outpatient services. The hospital is fully qualified and accredited to handle a broad range of medical, surgical, pediatric, obstetric, and gynecological procedures. The hospital also has specialized strengths in cardiology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, otolaryngology, rheumatology, internal medicine, urology, emergency care, and occupational health. Franklin Memorial Hospital is noted for innovation and is a member of the American Hospital Association and the Maine Hospital Association.
The area features beautiful mountains, pristine forests, and spectacular lakes. Farmington offers a sophisticated New England College environment including The University of Maine at Farmington, Ranked #1 by the US News & World Report and excellent schools.
Our Norman Rockwell-like setting offers one of the best rural healthcare systems in America, acclaimed by the American Hospital Association and others.
Our achievements include the highest level of community health in Maine, outstanding quality care, strong financial performance and market share, and success as an independent, not for profit local health delivery system.
Healthy Community Coalition, a grassroots community outreach organization that delivers wellness education throughout the service area by means of its mobile health unit. The Coalition is currently leading a community-wide campaign to end domestic violence in our area, called Peace in Our Families;
Pine Tree Medical Associates, a multi-specialty, group practice; and
Western Maine Physicians-Hospital Organization, a negotiating entity made up of 39 area physicians and the hospital.
Community Care
FCHN is dedicated to working with other community organizations to improve the health status of the region by providing a continuum of services that operates within fixed resources and is accountable to the community.
Delivering health care through a community health network:
puts patients at the center of attention,
emphasizes prevention and minimizes illness and disability,
is user-friendly,
continually improves the continuity and quality of health-care services, and
helps everyone use health-care resources wisely.
